FIRST WHEELS OF AN AUSTRALIAN BOY

Born on February 4th, 2005, Australian Jacob Roulstone grew up in Figtree (New South Wales in Australia), and started riding bikes at the age of 4, competing in his first motocross race aged 6. Later he switched to dirt/flat track in 2015 at 10 years old and won a number of Australian titles in this discipline, in addition to gathering podiums in other Australian and State title events.

STEPPING INTO ROAD RACING

In late 2017, Jacob rode his first road bike and within 12 months of road racing, he won the 2018 New South Wales Junior 85cc Road Racing state championship. The following year, he competed in the opening season of the Oceania Junior Cup in addition to already being engaged in the Asia Talent Cup, and finished 8th overall with two wins, a 2nd place and another five top 5 finishes. In the Asia Talent Cup, he closed 2019 eleventh in the championship.

TAKING HIS CHANCES IN EUROPE

In order to fullfil his dream of becoming a MotoGP™ rider, Jacob moved to Europe with his mother Leah in 2020 to compete in the FIM CEV Hawkers European Talent Cup with the Leopard Impala Junior Team, and finished 17th overall that year with two top 10 finishes. He remained for a second season with his team in 2021, and kicked off this new campaign with a maiden win in the first race of the opening round in Estoril, Portugal. Two more podiums that same season caught the eye of the Aspar Junior team, and he was offered an entry in the FIM Junior GP Moto3™ Junior World Championship in 2022.

2022-2023: COMBINING THE JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP AND THE RED BULL ROOKIES CUP

In his first season in Junior, Jacob showed promising performances that allowed him to secure a ride within the same team the following season. 2023 was the year when results started to become concrete for the young Australian. He scored his first podium in Valencia, and secured another one later on in Catalunya, to close the championship in 7th. During these two years, he also competed in the prestigious Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies cup. The first year was all about learning, and then he saw results coming in 2023, scoring his first podium in the Rookies cup in Jerez with a second position. Jacob became a regular podium contender all season through, as he closed the season in 5th overall.

2024-2025: ONE STEP CLOSER TO THE MOTOGP™ DREAM

In 2024, the Australian made his debuts in the Moto3™ World Championship with the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 team, alongside Daniel Holgado. The Aussie made quite the impression, scoring points in the eight first rounds, with a best result of P8 reached in both Austin and Catalunya early into the season. The return from the summer break was more difficult for the Australian, learning the category, but he ended the year at the Solidarity Grand Prix on a good note, equaling his season’s best result, in 8th. He closed his rookie year with 66 points, 15th in the championship. His impressive first half of 2024 secured him a ride with Tech3 for a second season, as he will lead the rebranded Red Bull KTM Tech3 team in 2025, alongside a rookie, Valentin Perrone.
