The Moto3™ kicked off the action of a busy Saturday in Andalusia at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto, with Free Practice 2 followed later on by the qualifying shootout. Both Jacob Roulstone and Valentin Perrone arrived this Saturday with already their Q2 ticket in the pocket following their fine form on opening day of track action. Eventually, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s leader Roulstone qualified in 8th, his best qualifying result of 2025 so far, and Perrone won’t be too far from his teammate, after qualifying in 10th of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Grand Prix of Spain

Having built the confidence on the opening day with the 5th time of Practice, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Jacob Roulstone took the opportunity of the final Free Practice session of the weekend to finetune his KTM ahead of the qualifying session. He rode 17 laps with a fastest in 1'45.776 as he prepared himself for the race, a time that had him 21st of the combined free practices. When it was time to push, the Aussie moved up a gear, to clock in an early 1’44.602 provisionally placing him in 5th halfway through. While most riders exited all together for the final time attacks, Jacob remained a bit longer in his pitbox to eventually give it all on one lap in the final minutes. In a final effort, the Aussie gained a few more with a 1’44.524, but late improvements from others saw him drop to 8th. Still, that’s a great qualifying result for the Australian on his third round of the season. He will aim to take a good start to get himself the chance to finish with big points.

Also directly qualified in Q2, there was our rookie Valentin Perrone who’s been doing the work so far this weekend. 11th at the end of play on Friday, the Argentinian continued his race preparation in FP2 with an improved best lap in 1'45.413 which placed him in the top 14 in the combined standing. The young 73 did not shy away in qualifying 2 with an early 1’44.787 under the scorching sun of Jerez, one that had him in a provisional top 10. Motivation was there for the young gun, but somehow he could not find the way to make the perfect lap, and he did not manage to improve his lap. Still, that’s P10 for Valentin Perrone who will have good chances to possibly bring home his best season result. Do not miss the Moto3™ race on Sunday at 11:00 local time (UTC+2), for 19 laps.

JACOB ROULSTONE: "It was a good qualifying, but I am slightly disappointed to be honest because I feel like I had a bit more in there. I lost a bit of time in sector 1 of my flying lap, and then caught back the lost time, so I guess we had margin to be faster.  Anyway, we are feeling ourselves again, the feeling is back, and I am enjoying myself a lot. I'm excited for the race tomorrow, thank you to my team and everyone who supports me."

VALENTIN PERRONE: "The feeling was good in Q2 this afternoon. I could stay with a good group, pushing hard and everything felt comfortable for me. We got an early lap done which was good, but then it was a mess with everyone waiting in the middle of the track, so we are happy. We will try to do a good race tomorrow, take a good start to try to stick with the front group and learn as much as we can."
