Australian Jacob Roulstone was the sole captain of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 Moto3™ squad on Saturday at the Mandalika track, as we saw him qualify in 13th of the Grand Prix of Indonesia. Teammate Valentin Perrone was unfortunately declared unfit for the remainder of the weekend, following his Practice’s crash.

Grand Prix of Indonesia

Jacob Roulstone showed encouraging pace in Friday’s practice, and he unfortunately came just short of the direct Q2 tickets in P15. After some background work done with the team overnight to try finding that right bike set up, the Australian arrived in better shape in the opening FP2, and we saw him close the gap on the leaders. Arriving at Q1 with the confidence of a solid last free practice, Roulstone was able to put it together to ride a solid 1'38.259 to take the 3rd spot of the session and head next to Q2. Jacob’s best of run 1 was a 1'37.737, which he further improved to a 1'37.710 just before the checkered flag. That meant P13 for Jacob, who will aim to get a good start to keep contact with the leading group, when lights of the Moto3™ race will go out at 12:00 (UTC+8), on Sunday!

Following his Practice’s crash yesterday, Valentin Perrone was unfortunately declared unfit for the remainder of the Grand Prix of Indonesia on Saturday morning. The young ‘Coyote’ will be resting up, and we should see him back on track in two weeks, at the Australian Grand Prix.

JACOB ROULSTONE: "Decent day here! I changed my riding style in FP2, although I suffered a bit with top speed. Anyway, I felt good with the pace, alone, and I got a decent Q1. Then in Q2, I could not string a proper lap all together unfortunately, but I felt strong. I have a good feeling for tomorrow’s race, I believe that I will be able to make a good start and some good overtakes, so let’s keep building forward."
