#SolidarityGP - November 17, 2024

That’s a wrap for the 2024 Moto3™ World Championship, with Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s Daniel Holgado and Jacob Roulstone successfully ending their respective campaigns on great notes at the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona. Daniel Holgado took the 2nd place of the final round, clinching a 16th career-podium in Grand Prix, a result which saw him officially become the 2024 runner-up! Rookie Jacob Roulstone finished with a solid result too, in 8th, equalling his best result in the category! Boys have done it right!

Eager to finish his adventure on a high before moving up to the intermediate class, Daniel Holgado took a great start from the second-row, to P3 after the first turn in a battle with Ivan Ortola, while David Alonso went on to take an early lead. Dani moved up to 2nd in the second lap while the rest of the riders behind had closed the gap. David Munoz and Adrian Fernandez joined the front group. Eventually, Daniel Holgado made a move to take the lead of the race for the first time on lap 3, while Alonso had relaxed a bit more to go at the back. After 5 laps, the front group was still a big group, with Holgado, Fernandez, Munoz, and Ortola constantly overtaking each other for the lead. That was allowing Angel Piqueras, Joel Kelso, Jacob Roulstone and David Alonso to stay with them behind, waiting too for their opportunities. Positions started to settle for a while then, with Fernandez still at the lead, but Alonso, of course, made it back to the top 3 as the end of the race approached. As 6 laps remained, the Colombian was up in 2nd, and Dani in 4th. We had a very clear front group of 8 riders, and any of them could win it. Three laps to go. Everything was still quite messy at the front, with positions continuing to change all the time. Holgado was still in 4th, with Fernandez, Ortola and Alonso ahead. The Spaniard made the extra effort to escape from his opponents, with a great move that allowed him to go up to 2nd as just 2 laps remained, but no one wanted to let it go for the final show of 2024! Entering the final lap, Holgado was in 2nd, 0.189 seconds behind no one else than Alonso, but Fernandez was close. Dani gave everything with a best race lap of 1'47.315, but he was a bit too far from Alonso. He finished in 2nd on the podium, the perfect way to wrap up his Moto3™ adventure.

As lights went out, Jacob Roulstone stayed P9 behind Tayo Furusato. He managed to keep contact with the front group, holding the pace behind Colin Veijer who had dropped from the front row. After three laps, the rookie was up in 7th holding it close to 2024 World Champion David Alonso, with a great rhythm in the low 1’47. Halfway through the race, the pace started to settle a bit more for Jacob while others pushed a bit more. The rookie found himself in P10 after 7 laps, and in 12th with just six laps remaining. As five laps remained, the rookie was at the doors of the top 10, in 11th behind Colin Veijer, and then up to 10th as one lap remained. Playing it for the team, the Australian did everything he could to retain Veijer behind him, knowing that the Dutch man was fighting for the runner-up position against teammate Daniel Holgado. He then progressed to 9th in the final lap to move ahead of Ortola who had made a mistake entering the last lap, and he eventually saw the checkered flag in 8th, equalling his best result in Moto3™. Great way for Roulstone to end his rookie season!

This is the time where we have to say goodbye to Daniel Holgado after two amazing years together. Dani forever made history for the Tech3 family. The dream started when he gave the team our first-ever win in Moto3™ at the opening round of the 2023 season in Portimao. That dream continued a few rounds later in Le Mans, when he won the French GP, making it the first win in history of the French squad on home soil. A third victory was added shortly after that in Mugello, and a fourth one at the 2024 Portuguese Grand Prix, making it 4 wins that we will always cherish. Another 11 podiums were added within these two years, including 7 in 2024, a great season that allowed Dani to finish 2024 runner-up of the Moto3™ World Championship, the team’s best result since our arrival in the lightweight class. In addition to being a great rider, Holgado has been a great friend to all of us. We will miss you Dani, you will always be part of our family, thank you for everything, and good luck for your new adventure in Moto2™!

Finally, a big round of applause must go to the full Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 Moto3™'s squad for a great season. With Daniel Holgado's second place in the championship, and rookie Jacob Roulstone's 15th place, the team ends the season in 4th with a total of 322 points scored. Thank you to each member for their hardwork and dedication all season-long, it has been a great ride in red, but another era awaits us as the team will be back in the preseason testing in KTM orange!

"Super happy with my last race in Moto3. These last two years with the team were incredible, we fought for the title. We were stronger this year, and we fought in the top 3 all season-long. Today was a super fast race, difficult, with everyone pushing a lot, but I am super happy to finish in 2nd today, and with the 2nd position in the championship. It was our target, and I am very proud that we have achieved it!"

"I am happy to finish the season in a decent way! I wish we would have found the pace earlier in the season, but anyway it feels good to finish on that positive note. I knew that Dani was fighting for 2nd, so I tried to get in front of Colin Veijer and Ivan Ortola as best as I could, when I could. He finished 2nd, so I am happy that I could play a tiny part in that success, I am happy for him. It was a bit of a shame to lose the group at some point, but I progressively gained back ground. I am really happy with my season. There were ups and downs, but I am proud about the way I managed to overcome everything. I would like to thank everyone in the team for sticking around me, helping me, and giving me the most competitive bike possible in every session, and race. I look forward to another season with them next year, and I believe that after a good off-season and preseason training, we will be ready to show our potential for our 2nd year in the championship, and achieve our goals. Thank you to everyone involved!”

"What a way to end up the championship! It was a very tense week between Malaysia and Catalunya as we scored zero points in Sepang. Daniel Holgado arrived here at the same level as Colin Veijer in the championship, so we knew it would be a tough race, but it was so important for us to finish in 2nd place with Dani. He had a perfect weekend, at the top in all sessions, and the race was amazing. Great start to immediately go fight at the front. In the last two laps, he made a small break with David Alonso, gave everything in the end, he set up the fastest race lap in the final lap, but he was still a bit too far from the victory. We are so happy for him. Dani has given us so much over the last two years, and for him to finish his Moto3 career as a runner-up is perfect. Jacob Roulstone did a great race in P8 after a strong weekend, which is a really good sign for next year. We hope that he will be able to take on the leading role of Dani! Thank you to all the team, to both riders, let's celebrate tonight!”
