#ThaiGP - October 25, 2024

The Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 Moto3™ squad has made the travels to Buriram in the northeast of the capital city of Bangkok, for the PT Grand Prix of Thailand, the penultimate round of a busy overseas tour. Much different conditions awaited both Daniel Holgado and Jacob Roulstone after a chilly and rainy Phillip Island, as they had to face the hot and humid climate of Buriram. Holgado showed good pace all day, finishing 4th at end of play of day 1, while Roulstone's lap times were encouraging ahead of qualifying day.

Fresh from his podium in Australia that allowed him to reinforce his runner-up position, Daniel Holgado arrived in Thailand with a 23 point-gap on Colin Veijer in the championship standing, eager to try to grow that gap even bigger in Buriram. A temperature of 27° with 73% of humidity already awaited the lightweight class for Free Practice at 9:00, but Daniel Holgado and the rest braved the hot conditions to get their first laps and feeling on the Chang International Circuit. After 17 laps, Holgado’s best was a 1’41.667 that placed him 9th of the opening session, before he returned for track action in the afternoon with Practice 1. The Spaniard continued to prepare his bike to try finding that perfect setting, and a late lap in 1’41.287 placed him 4th in the standings. Holgado will have a provisional Q2 spot to defend on Saturday morning.

With a heart full of love and great moments shared with family, friends and fans at his home Grand Prix in Australia, Jacob Roulstone discovered the 4.5 km Thai layout and its twelve corners in the morning's Free Practice 1. After some difficult rounds, the Aussie was finally back in the points last week with a 13th place in Phillip Island, one that helped him approach the Grand Prix of Thailand with a good boost of confidence. After his 18 first laps this morning, his fastest time was in 1'42.625, 2 seconds away from the fastest guy, but he was able to improve in the afternoon after finding more confidence on his bike. In the end, a 1’41.992 (+1.282) turned out to be his fastest of P1, sitting him in 21st at the end of play on Friday. The rookie will have Practice 2 to continue making progress ahead of the qualifying sessions later on in the day. The Moto3™ boys will be back on track at the Chang International Circuit at 8:40 local time (GMT+7).

"Strong first day for us in Buriram! The feeling with the rear tyre was not perfect in FP, but we managed to make good improvements for the afternoon's setup, and the bike felt better suited to my riding style in P1. We finished in P4, which is encouraging, but we still have a few twists to make in tomorrow's morning session to be fully ready for qualifying!”

"We were slow to get to the pace this morning, as we struggled with the set up and the hard-braking required from this track, but we fixed many issues pointed out between the two sessions, and I think that the feeling was much better in P1. We were able to do a long and quite consistent run with used tyres, which I was happy about. I am heading to tomorrow with good confidence as I do feel like we will be able to make progress in P2."
