#IndonesianGP - September 28, 2024

The Moto3™ class kicked off a busy day of track action at the Mandalika International circuit on Saturday, with Daniel Holgado and Jacob Roulstone starting their day in a dramatic way in Practice 2 as both riders took each other down. Luckily, they were both able to join the qualifying shootout in the afternoon. Still sore from the morning, Holgado gave his best in Q2, and qualified in 14th on the grid, while Jacob Roulstone will line up in P19.

Fifteenth at the end of play on Friday, there was work to do on Saturday morning for Daniel Holgado as he aimed to secure Q2. The feeling improved from yesterday, and the Spaniard was quick to set a decent lap time in 1'38.156 to move up to 7th provisionally. Unfortunately, he crashed shortly after as he appeared to lose the front, and his teammate Jacob Roulstone, with whom he was working with, could not avoid him from behind. It was quite a scary crash between the two Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 riders, but both came out with no big injuries. Dani’s lap was enough for him to secure Q2 with P13, and qualify to Q2. Still a bit sore from his crash, the qualifying session was tricky for the Spaniard. He gave his best, but could not do better than P14, with a 1’38.399.

Continuing the learning at the Mandalika International Circuit, there was Jacob Roulstone in the morning Practice 2, looking to improve from yesterday. Unfortunately, the Australian did have much time, when teammate Daniel Holgado crashed just in front of him, and he could not do much and was brought down too. In his fall, he ran over Dani, causing a quite nasty crash. As mentioned earlier, both riders were luckily ok. In Q1, the Australian had two decent runs, and he had his chances for the first 4 spots. He delivered a solid final lap in 1’38.766, but that was 0.009 seconds too short to make it to Q2. Roulstone will start the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia from 19th on the grid.

A challenging race awaits the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 crew, but it is with no doubt that both Holgado and Roulstone will give it their all as lights go out at 12:00 local time (GMT+8).

"Difficult day for us after this morning's big crash with Jacob in Practice 2. The most important is that both Jacob and myself were ok. In qualifying, we had some pain to manage, and considering this, I was quite happy with the job done. We need to take care of the body, get a good night of sleep, and we'll be ready to go tomorrow! I'm ready to fight!”

"Frustrating day overall. This morning, we felt really good straight out of the box with the medium-medium compound. Unfortunately, as I followed Dani, he crashed and I could not avoid him. I wish this had not happened, but there was nothing I could do, so I just want to say sorry to the team. Going into Q1, I felt very comfortable, and it is a shame to miss out on Q2 by so little. I made a mistake in the second last corner which I am annoyed with, but anyway, the feeling heading to tomorrow’s race is positive. Thanks to my team for rebuilding the bike so fast!”
