#AragonGP - August 31, 2024

It was qualifying day on Saturday at the Gran Premio GoPRo de Aragón for the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 Moto3™ squad, as the lightweight class kicked off fresh and early a busy Saturday at MotorLand. After qualifying both directly to Q2, Daniel Holgado and Jacob Roulstone respectively qualified in P7 and P18 on the grid, as both head to Sunday hungry for points.

The rain from overnight left the resurfaced track still damp ahead of Practice 2 action this morning, and thirty minutes of Moto3™ weren’t enough for it to dry completely with a rather shy sun on Saturday morning. The session was declared wet, so times did not go down at all. Spaniard Daniel Holgado did the homework this morning in the tricky conditions, finishing Practice2 in P7 after eleven laps done. As times did not improve, the #96 retained his P14 spot, and qualified to Q2. The sun was back for the qualifying shootout at lunch time, leaving a perfect stage for lap times to go down, and the fight for the pole was a good one! If David Alonso was once again the man to beat, Holgado managed to pull a 1’59.414 in his final efforts to get himself on row three, as he will aim to score big points on Sunday from P7.

Rookie Jacob Roulstone appeared rather confident in the wet conditions of the morning, locking P9 of the session, but what mattered was his 13th position of Friday, one that secured him his direct Q2 ticket. Fully ready to go in Q2, the rookie got trapped by the new track, and unfortunately crashed in his opening lap. Unable to rejoin, he will start the Gran Premio GoPro de Aragón from P18, with no time set in Q2 this afternoon. Don’t miss the action on Sunday as Daniel Holgado and Jacob Roulstone will look to secure strong points in the desert, with the Moto3™ race scheduled at 11:00 local time (GMT+2), for seventeen laps.

"Today was better for us, I think that we found the right bike set up for tomorrow, and I am heading to the race pretty confident. The track is new, and it is quite difficult to manage, especially this morning in the wet, but we were able to get the work done anyway. I feel ready for the fight, let’s go team!”

"I am very disappointed with the outcome of our day. We felt really good in the wet this morning, I think that we had the right set up and everything was smooth. In qualifying, I knew that the track was still a bit tricky, I remained calm, but unfortunately I crashed. I struggled to catch my breath back with the impact of the airbag. I could not return to the pit box, which is a shame, but let’s focus on tomorrow’s race and try to have a good one.”
