#AragonGP - August 30, 2024

The Moto3™ action kicked off the action of the Gran Premio GoPro de Aragón on Friday morning, with Jacob Roulstone and Daniel Holgado both back in the game for the third Spanish leg of 2024, the first of a back-to-back races as the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 squad will head to Misano next week. Returning on the calendar after being missing in 2023, MotorLand Aragón welcomed the lightweight class with a totally resurfaced track, leaving riders with some extra adaptation to make in the hot conditions of Aragón desert.

Rookie Jacob Roulstone was one to start his campaign right, not far from teammate Holgado in the opening session, with a 2’00.418 placing him sixth of Free Practice. Times logically went down for all riders in the warm P1, but Roulstone placed himself in a good position ahead of Saturday, securing P13 this afternoon with a late lap in 1’58.254. The Australian, confident that he has margin for improvement, will be looking to secure a direct Q2 ticket tomorrow morning.

On the other side of the garage, Austria podium-finisher Daniel Holgado was back in action on Friday morning for his home round, eager to perform well in front of Spanish fans. Officially back on this track for the first time since 2022, the #96 started his campaign pretty well, finishing fourth of the opening session with a 2’00.007 (+0.324 seconds). As the track conditions became hotter for the afternoon (49° on the ground), the grip on the newly resurfaced became a bit trickier to handle. Suffering from these conditions, Holgado’s best of the afternoon was a late 1’58.270, one that placed him on the last spot of the provisional Q2 ticket, in P14.

Both Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 riders will be back on track on Saturday at 8:40 local time (GMT+2), before going through qualifying from 12:50.

"It was a decent, but strange day overall. I really like this track, but the surface was strange, although it got better in the afternoon. We suffered in P1 as the conditions were quite hot, but we made decent steps, and we managed to do a time attack with used tyres, which I am happy with. Our position at the end of the day is not bad, but we still have some points to improve on, and I am sure that we will figure these out tomorrow morning.”

"Pretty difficult Friday overall, because we did not feel as good on the bike in the afternoon, compared to the morning session. The temperatures were really hot in Practice 1, in addition to the track being a bit different with the resurfacing, but I am confident that we can fix things for tomorrow. The bike is working well, but we just need to adapt our tyre strategy. A hard-working evening awaits us, and let’s give our best on Saturday.”
