The Moto3™ class was the first on track on Saturday, kicking off a packed-action Saturday at the British Grand Prix. Under the cloudy sky of Silverstone, Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s Jacob Roulstone and Daniel Roulstone both qualified directly to Q2 after the morning’s Practice 2, before they went on to respectively earn themselves a 6th and an 8th position on the grid, as they both head to Sunday’s race with a good opportunity to score strong points.
Third fastest on Friday on his first day trying out the British layout, rookie Jacob Roulstone’s good feeling continued as the Australian completed Practice 2 with the fourth fastest lap, a 2'10.093 that got him the fifth place in the combined standing, and a direct Q2 ticket. In the afternoon’s qualifying shootout, Jacob pulled an early 2’10.040 placing him provisionally on the front row as he worked together with teammate Holgado. That time was his fastest as he could not improve in his last run, and the rookie will start from the second row, in 6th, a great chance for the rookie to get his best result in the lightweight class!
After a shy Friday that saw him finish the day in P14, Daniel Holgado gave an extra push on Saturday morning, a solid one it appears, as we saw the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 rider top the session in 2’09.586, and he qualified for Q2 in P2 overall. When qualifying started, the #96 led his Australian teammate, and it was on his third flying lap that he clocked in a 2’10.128 that placed him provisionally on the front row alongside his teammate. That lap remained his best but the others improved, and he will start the British Grand Prix from 8th as lights go out on Sunday morning at 11:15 (GMT+1).
