#GermanGP - July 5, 2024

A quick stop in the charismatic city of Amsterdam to recharge the batteries after the Dutch Grand Prix last week, and the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 Moto3™ squad was all ready to go at it again as the lightweight class began their German Grand Prix campaign at the Sachsenring on Friday morning. It was a positive day overall for Daniel Holgado and Jacob Roulstone as both found a decent pace on the opening round, with the #96 finishing in 11th, and the #12 in 17th, not too far off the top though.

Small points were scored in Assen last week, so Daniel Holgado was eager to return to the Sachsenring this week, a circuit where he had good fortunes last season as we saw him finish on the third step of the podium. In the morning, track conditions were still a bit tricky with some damp patches around the circuit following the rain overnight, so all riders took it easy at the start of day. After closing Free Practice with the fifteenth time in 1’27.317, Holgado improved in the afternoon to 1’25.741, a time which saw him close day one in P11, 0.458 seconds from the top. Confident with his bike setting, the young Spaniard will look forward to confirming his provisional Q2 ticket as the action resumes tomorrow morning at 8:40 (GMT+2).

It was not a bad first day at all for rookie Jacob Roulstone at the Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, as Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s Australian found his marks in the lightweight class on his GASGAS. After his usual Free Practice used to learn the layout, Roulstone split his Practice 1 session in two, with a first run at race pace, which saw him lapping promising times, and a second run with time attacks. Roulstone rode a late 1’25.956, placing him in P17 at end of play. He will have another opportunity to try making the cut for the direct Q2 tickets in Practice 2 on Saturday morning!

"I am very happy with my first day in Germany, because we prepared a good bike for tomorrow. Our pace with medium/soft was positive, I felt good. We’ll have a few twists to make in tomorrow’s Practice 2, but overall it was a good day, thanks to my team for the work, let’s focus on doing a great job in qualifying tomorrow!"

"It was quite a positive first day for us here in Sachsenring. In the morning, we got our first impressions of the track, we focused on getting our pace, learning the curves, and so on, as we do every Friday morning. In the afternoon, we did our first run at a race pace, and I felt good. In the flying laps, I also felt good, our times were positive, we are not far from the top, so overall we are feeling optimistic heading to qualifying day!”
