#DutchGP - June 29, 2024

The lightweight class kicked off a busy day of track action on Saturday at the iconic TT Circuit Assen fresh and early on Saturday morning, with Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s Daniel Holgado and Jacob Roulstone completing Practice 2, followed later on by the qualifying sessions. Holgado qualified in P15 on the grid ahead of the eighth race of 2024, and Jacob Roulstone will start his first Dutch GP in the Moto3™ category from the seventh row.

In the top 10 at the end of play on Friday, title contender Daniel Holgado secured his Q2 ticket at the end of Practice 2 this morning as we saw him improving his lap time to 1’40.147 (+0.444 secs), finishing eleventh of the combined practices. Later on in the afternoon, the final qualifying stage kicked off in hot conditions as the sun shone over the cathedral of speed. A 1’40.476 was Dani’s best this afternoon, after we saw his late fast lap being cancelled by a yellow flag waved after a crash late in the session. Holgado settled with a fifteenth place on the grid, and the young Spaniard will aim for a good start in the race tomorrow as he hopes to score big points and remain in the title fight.

On the Australian side of the garage, there was a bit of disappointment after Jacob Roulstone missed out on a direct Q2 ticket, finishing eighteenth of the morning’s Practice 2, 0.316 seconds from the top 14. In qualifying 1, Jacob came a bit short in time eventually after he decided to return to the pit box while all riders were waiting for each other. That left him with just one time-attack lap left, and his 1’41.063 saw him finishing sixth of the session. The Australian rookie will start from P20 on Sunday, as lights go out at 11:00 (GMT+2) for twenty laps.

"Overall, I am happy and confident with the setting of the bike and the pace we showed all day, in both P2 and Q2. Unfortunately we had the yellow flag in qualifying while I was on my fast lap, so I will start a bit far, but it is not a huge problem. I feel good for tomorrow, so let’s take a good start and give our best on track."

"I am disappointed of course! I have struggled quite a lot since yesterday, getting comfortable on the bike has not been that easy. In qualifying 1 there was a lot of chaos with the other riders at the start. I decided to come back to the pit box, put on a new set of tyres, but we came a bit short with time unfortunately. We will learn from this of course. We are still missing a few fundamentals, but let’s get to work with the team, and I am sure that we can manage to have a good race on Sunday.”
