The Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 Moto3™ squad was excited to be back in action on Friday at the iconic Motul TT Assen after three weeks off track, as Daniel Holgado and Jacob Roulstone began their Dutch Grand Prix campaign under milder conditions than the hot temperatures of the past days in Assen.
Second in the championship after seven rounds, Spaniard Daniel Holgado had in mind nothing else than good results and strong points should he wish to remain in the title fight heading to the summer break in just two weeks. Things started in the morning’s Free Practice for the GASGAS Tech3 rider, as he closed the opening session in thirteenth, 1.170 seconds off the fastest. As the action resumed for Practice 1 just after lunch time, Holgado found a few twists that allowed him to improve his pace, and we saw the #96 finish in P10, with a provisional Q2 ticket to defend in tomorrow morning’s P2.
Eager to reunite with his team and the competition, Australian rookie Jacob Roulstone headed to the Netherlands with good memories from the TT Assen, after he finished in third and fourth last season in the Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup. As usual, Friday morning session was all about adapting to the track with the Moto3™ bike, and there was nothing too worrying or unusual about seeing the rookie take P22 of FP1. Once that first session in the bag, the young rookie was able to level it up in the afternoon session, improving to 1’41.119 (+0.860) to close the opening day in thirteenth, provisionally qualified in Q2. Positive Friday for the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s squad as we will now prepare for qualifying day!
