After completing a two-day test last week in Portimao, Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s Daniel Holgado and Jacob Roulstone were back on track on Wednesday, but this time in South of Spain at the good old Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto. With the MotoGP™ and MotoE™ classes having completed their preseason tests, both the Moto2™ and Moto3™ classes were in the spotlight this week with the Official Jerez Test, a three day-test allowing riders and teams to get everything ready for the new season upon us, due to start next week in Qatar!
As the two classes shared the track, with three sessions each, Daniel Holgado 'officially' began his third campaign in the lightweight class. His three wins and four other podiums in 2023 saw him be a serious title contender last season, and it is with no doubt that the young Spaniard will want to achieve much more with his new Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 colours in 2024. As the adaptation with the new machine continued, Holgado rode a total of 38 laps on day 1 of Jerez Test, lapping a 1’44.409, which placed him third fastest of the day, just 0.053 seconds from title rival and 2023 rookie of the year David Alonso. On another note, he leaves day 1 with the top speed after he reached 218.6 km/h.
On the other side of Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s garage, there was Australian rookie Jacob Roulstone who continued to learn about the Moto3™ category, and we can say that day one was extremely positive. The day was mainly spent on getting the right bike set up on the continuity of the work already done last week in Portugal. With a total of 68 laps, the number 12 completed the day with a brilliant 1’45.065, placing him in the top 10 of the combined standing. The action will continue tomorrow with day 2 of the Official Moto3™ Jerez Test.
