Following the British Grand Prix, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Daniel Holgado and Filippo Farioli both attended the Silverstone Moto3™ Official Test on Monday at the Silverstone circuit, the second official testing window of the season dedicated to the lightweight class. Track conditions were a bit milder than the race weekend, with the sun out and a dry track, leaving the riders with decent conditions. This new testing day was split into three free practice sessions, with the first one of fifty minutes, the second one of one hour, and the last window was of seventy-five minutes.
After his brilliant third place at the British Grand Prix on Sunday, Moto3™ Championship leader’s menu of the day was to find a good feeling with the newest specification on the front tyre, as it is likely that it will be used in the next European races. The aim was to find both a good setting and feeling, and after two sessions, the young Spaniard appeared to have found a setting which suited him. In session 1, he rode a total of sixteen laps, with a best of 2’14.046, 0.823 seconds from the morning’s fastest man, and was third. In the sixty minute-session, the Spaniard continued his testing programme and rode a total of twenty-one laps, with a fastest time set in 2’12.190, 0.315 seconds from the fastest of session 2. It was almost one second fastest than his best lap of the weekend. After these two sessions, the schedule was completed, so Dani did not ride in the last session of the day. He finished second overall after thirty-seven laps.
The result of his British GP was not quite what he had hoped for after reaching his best qualifying result of 2023 on Saturday in England, so Filippo Farioli was determined to find solutions to the issues encountered lately on track in order to enter the second part of the season in the best way possible. In the first session of the day, Filippo focused on trying to improve his feelings with the front of his bike. Different settings of the front fork were tried to help him find confidence on the KTM. After twenty-two laps, he sat in P4 in the standings as he rode his fastest lap in 2’14.154 halfway through the session, at the end of which he found interesting data. With the goal to improve his braking point on the corners’ entry, the number 7 and his squad dedicated the second session on trying different clutch settings, and some positive came out of it for the rookie. They also worked on time attacks with new tyres, and the KTM Tech3 rider rode his fastest in 2’12.364, 1.518 seconds faster than his best lap of the weekend. Having completed his testing schedule by the end of session 2, Filippo did not ride in the last session of the day, and finished fifth in the combined standings after thirty-seven laps.
There have been plenty of learnings and important data gathered today in Silverstone. Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Daniel Holgado and Filippo Farioli will look into putting these into application from the next round in Spielberg, for the Austrian Grand Prix, on Aug. 18-20, 2023.

“We had an interesting testing day here in Silverstone. I’ve had a few issues lately, so we wanted to test different settings to help me feel better on the bike, and I think that we found some good information which I might be using for the next races. The pace was good and the laps fast, so this is a positive thing. I am hoping that it will give us an extra boost for the next rounds, starting with Austria, which I already have my eyes on!”

“We can say that today was a good day of testing in Silverstone. We had some issues from the weekend that needed to be addressed, and I think that we resolved them after trying a few settings. In the first session, I was P4, 0.9 seconds from the first. I had good feelings on my own, so I was satisfied with the outcome of the first session. Then in FP2, we focused on other areas, such as trying different settings with the clutch and the suspensions, and it was very positive. We also tried time attacks with new tyres, and I did a good lap time, 0.4 seconds from the fastest rider, so I am happy overall with our day. We need to stay focused for Austria, continue working the way we have done today, and we will progress session after session.”
