With a perfect start in Free Practice one at the Automotodrom Brno Ayumu Sasaki managed to secure a top 6 in the highly competitive Moto3 field. The Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider did a fantastic personal best of 2:09.429 seconds in the first session of the fourth race weekend, but couldn’t improve in FP2 this afternoon after a minor fall. Yet, the Japanese concluded Friday with a provisional Q2 spot in his pocket.

On the other side of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 garage, Deniz Öncü slowly got into grips with the Czech circuit, but managed to lower his time in FP2 by 0.223 seconds. The World Championship rookie therefore ended up a second behind the highly coveted best 14, but is eager to improve on his pace tomorrow morning at 9.00 local time in FP3.

"We had a good FP1, the bike was working well from the beginning. But when we crashed during the second race in Jerez, we knew that we are strong. So, I had the confidence and high motivation to do well here from the beginning, especially for the team. We finished FP1 in P5 and I was hoping to improve in FP2, but the conditions have been a lot worse than in the first session, which we didn’t expect. Last year, the track felt quite good even in hot conditions, but apparently this season there’s less grip on the asphalt. Anyway, I tried to push to try the bike in race conditions, but I did a mistake and crashed. Sorry to the team for this! Overall, I think we did well anyway. I still need to improve a few things, but I’m feeling good for tomorrow."

"Today we did two practice sessions and it looks like we are quite far compared to the top guys and obviously I’m not happy with this fact. We have to work a lot, we already did from this morning on, but I couldn’t find a decent way to really push. For tomorrow, I hope I can do some more steps. Hopefully, we can do better on Saturday."
