Red Bull KTM Tech3 is set to commence their first season in the highly-competitive Moto3 class from the third and the seventh row at the Losail International Circuit. Newcomer Deniz Öncü, who already impressed on Friday, secured a fantastic eighth position in Qualifying this afternoon, just 0.361 seconds behind the pole setter, ready to line up in row three on the grid tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Ayumu Sasaki managed to improve his lap time from Friday, although the wind was blowing stronger today, but eventually missed a possible Q2 entry by 0.282 seconds. The Japanese youngster will start the first race of the season on Sunday at 16.20 local time (14.20 CET) from row seven.

"Overall, today has been pretty good. In FP3 I finished in P11 and was not far from the front, but I wasn’t that happy, because I didn’t feel too relaxed and comfortable on the bike, so I hope we will find a better setup for tomorrow’s race. In Qualifying, I pushed and everybody was like crazy. I wanted to do the same and finally, I did the eighth fastest time, just 0.2 seconds from the third. I’m very happy to start my first race here with Red Bull KTM Tech3 in P8."

Ayumu Sasaki

Position: 21st

"Today we improved a lot from day one. The conditions in FP3 were a lot different than yesterday, so it wasn’t easy to do a good lap time. In Q1, I managed to do a quite decent lap in the beginning to be fourth, but then some other guys passed me and we ended up in P7. Overall, we were quite good, we made another step forward for the race, so in the end, obviously it’s not the position, we wanted, but we end up with a positive frame of mind. The race is tomorrow, hopefully we can catch the front group as soon as possible. The grid seems to be quite mixed, so I think we are able to go towards the front. My pace is good, we just need to do some more changes in Warm Up and then go for it."
