Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Deniz Öncü showed a great performance at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo today. He topped the tricky Free Practice three session this morning and got fourth in the combined standings, which means he went straight to Q2. In the hard-fought Qualifying, the Moto3 World Championship rookie did well once again, losing out on the pole setter by just 0.451 seconds to conclude the session in 11th position.

With the rain being back not just this morning, but also around lunchtime today, Ayumu Sasaki was unlucky having to go through Q1, as it started to rain slightly just at the beginning of the short session. He improved with each lap, but eventually ended up in P12, which means he will have to start the penultimate round tomorrow at 11:00 local time from the ninth row of the grid.

"Actually, the weekend is going pretty well for us. Already yesterday we reached some great places and also the Qualifying today has been quite strong. I will start the race from P11 tomorrow. This is a huge improvement compared to last weekend. We feel positive about the race, as it looks we have a good pace. So, I think we can be strong tomorrow."

Ayumu Sasaki

Position: 26th

Time: 1:41.243

Laps: 8

"It has been a difficult day. In FP3 it was dry in the beginning, but then it started to rain after a few minutes. In Qualifying it was raining as well at the start and in the end, it dried up a bit. So, it wasn’t easy. We couldn’t manage the conditions very well. I’m disappointed, as we are again far back on the grid, which gives us a lot of work for the race, but we will try to do our best tomorrow."
