The second day of action at the TT Circuit Assen started with bright sunshine, especially on the side of Deniz Öncü. The Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider managed to improve on his Friday’s practice time by 0.662 seconds in FP3 this morning, which brought him to fifth in the combined standings and therefore straight to Q2.

In the short Qualifying session itself, the Turkish youngster was a bit unfortunate in terms of timing and missed out on what could have been a final fast lap. Yet, he ended up in P15, which means Öncü will start the Dutch Grand Prix tomorrow at 11:00 local time from the fifth row of the grid.

Deniz Öncü

Position: 15th

Time: 1:42.392

Laps: 7

“Honestly, we are struggling to find a good setup. I think tomorrow we will not have the best bike, but a bike that is good to ride. I was working a lot with the rear grip during the weekend, we tried to find solutions, but it didn’t go the way we wanted. In Qualifying I could have been a bit better, but doing my laps alone, it was not easy, plus I made a mistake at the end of the main straight and lost a lot of time. Tomorrow we will start the race from P15 and see what is going to happen.”
